START HERE.
Say you’ve never swung a leg over a mountain bike. Here’s how it goes.
You come by the shop and the coffee’s on. We talk about where you want to ride and what you want out of it, then narrow it down to a bike or two. You demo them on your own trails. If we have yours in stock, you ride it home. If not, we order it.
When it arrives, we build it and dial it in for you. The suspension gets set for your weight and how you ride. The bars, stem, brakes and saddle get set to fit your body. We walk you through the setup and tire pressure, and help you figure out what gear you actually need.
Then you ride. Group clinics cover the fundamentals, and 1:1 coaching is there when you want to go further. Bike Maintenance 101 teaches you to look after your own bike. When it needs more than that, it comes back here for tune-ups and repairs. All suspension work happens in-house, because I’m Fox factory trained. And if your pads have life left, we’ll tell you.
Somewhere along the way you find people to ride with. We host World Cup and Hardline watch parties at the shop, because this sport is best with friends.
Kids get the same treatment: a bike that fits, suspension set for a 60-pound rider, and brake levers small hands can reach. Kids whose bikes fit keep riding.

BEHIND THE BENCH.
Flowstate is named for a feeling. The noise drops away and it’s just you and the next hundred feet of trail. If you’ve felt it, you know.
I started racing mountain bikes at twelve. That turned into two trips to the World Championships on the US team, World Cup cyclocross in Europe, Cat 1 on the road, and eventually A-level moto. Different bikes, same addiction.
Racing meant wrenching. Nobody was setting up my bikes for me, so I learned. I rebuilt bikes in race parking lots after delayed flights and stripped them down in hotel rooms after muddy World Cup course sessions.
Now my two kids ride, their friends are starting to, and the island just opened a bike park. Bainbridge had plenty of riders and no mountain bike shop, so I built one. I want more people out there feeling it.
